Movement is Medicine for Aging Well

As we age, strength, coordination, and stability naturally decline—but here's the empowering truth: we can rebuild them. By moving our bodies in all directions—forward, backward, side to side, rotating, balancing, and even inverting—we not only strengthen our physical body but also maintain the independence we cherish in daily life.
This flowing sequence, thoughtfully designed by Hayley Winter of the Institute of Yoga Sports Science®, gently invites your body to explore its full range of motion. It gives your brain the information it needs to stay adaptable and supports confident, easeful movement at any age.
Enjoy the journey! ~Lisa

Meet The Team

Lisa Kushner

Yoga for Healthy Aging

Lisa opened the studio in July 2019 to give students an alternative to the physically demanding yoga taught in most gyms and studios. Her expertise lies in teaching adults who want to maintain their independence as they age. Students are drawn to her playful approach, adaptive style, and calming voice.
She started practicing yoga when she was 17 so she's experienced various styles as her body changed over time. Lisa is a Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher with over 500 hours of training and holds a special certification in teaching Yoga for Healthy Aging.
Julia Martin
Julia Martin

Alignment-Based Yoga

Julia came to yoga as a way to navigate body changes after bariatric surgery.  Over the years, her yoga practice has evolved to support many challenges of life – sobriety, mental health, weight management, staying physically active, empty nest life, and navigating menopause.  She believes that the balance and grace in her practice provides space for grace and balance in her life.  Julia’s teaching style is slow and intentional with an emphasis on finding ease in the effort.  Come ready to laugh as she believes laughter is its own asana.
Mary Schwarz

Alignment-Based Yoga

Mary began practicing yoga in 2000 and quickly appreciated its physical and mental benefits. Wanting to deepen her own practice, she graduated from an alignment-based teacher training program. Since then, she has received additional certificates in Restorative Yoga and Grief Yoga®. Mary loves sharing opportunities to move the body, techniques to calm the mind, and helping others feel balanced and age well. Believing that alignment-based asana, breathwork, and meditation are safe and beneficial for all bodies, Mary especially enjoys teaching beginners.
